The music video brings the singer PENELOPE enjoying life in a neighborhood well known by the LGBTQIA+ community in the city of Sydney, Australia
Last Friday (December 3), Cris Pepper released her first authorial work, the single “Voice of a Dreamer” with the Australian singer PENELOPE, former participant of the last edition of The Voice Australia.
A lot was said in the article about the release of the song, and one of the news was the video clip that would come next and that now we show with exclusivity all the details of this project. Start with the references to the video clip, which emerged during the creation of the script, which was left to Matheus Faro, friend and screenwriter for this project.
Cris says that the two were talking about the project and the friend suggested as a reference the video clip “Australia Street”, by the band Sticky Fingers, where the main idea was to show remarkable places in the city where she lives, “he suggested this reference that shows life well from Australia, as it is an empowering song, the idea was to show the life of the LGBTQIA+ scene here in Sydney, in the neighborhood considered ‘alternative lesbian’, and so, in my music video, we wanted to bring the same footprint as the Sticky Fingers video , but passing through other street, on the street where the nightclubs are located, the bars, where there is more LGBT life here in Sydney”, ends Cris, talking a little about what happens in the clip that features several scenes of the singer PENELOPE leaving her home, getting ready and going to the club.
Matheus speaks of the admiration he has for the way his friend takes in her career: “I’ve known Cris for 10 years, since we met in Australia. She is an excellent professional, as a DJ she surprised me a lot, as she is not a comfortable professional, so she is always tuned in to news, always wanted to produce something more authorial and always wanted to make a difference in the market.”
Faro continues to talk a little about how it was working on this script even though he’s in Brazil:
“So when she invited me to join her in making that dream come true – because this copyrighted music video is her dream – I was flattered, however I’m on the other side of the world so it’s hard to be able to participate more closely, for this reason, I wrote the script for the music video, I took the lyrics of the song – which are beautiful – which is very significant, not only for the LGBT community, but for everyone, because it talks about dreams, about achievement, about empowerment,about make things happen. Therefore, I wrote a simple script, because this project is completely independent (no outside investment). I put together a script for her, she liked it, made 2 or 3 adjustments and it rolled. I was very happy with the result.” Matheus Faro – Screenwriter.
Joseph Macedo was responsible for directing and editing the video, and he talks about the experience he had in working with Cris on this project:
“It was an amazing experience to direct the music video for the song ‘Voice of a Dreamer’. Cris called me, showed me a very interesting script. On top of this script, we held some briefing and brainstorm meetings. She made me really comfortable to be able to create and participated in the entire process, from choosing locations to editing. We rearranged some ideas and arrived at the final script. The process was very smooth and we were lucky to have a high-level team.” complete.

To leave super at ease, the friend Matheus Faro also mentioned a little of this way of working with DJ Cris Pepper, who fully trusts the work of the professionals involved in her projects:
“Cris is a very easy person to work with because she trusts the people who are closing with her, she gives us wings, she trusts our work, even though we are demanding, even though is her son, because the video, the music, it’s like a child to her. It’s very good when you can put your art, and even far away I managed to put my little finger there in that production. I was very happy with the result. I’m sure people will like it and Cris will go a long way! It’s the first of many!” Matheus Faro – Screenwriter.
Cris Pepper launched “Voice of a Dreamer” thinking about every possible detail, so that the first release of an original composition and production of her career could have the best marketing campaign possible, as she says: “The main objective of launching a video clip was marketing and promotion, to somehow popularize music through visual communication. First the idea was born to make the original music, the composition, everything that I already explained in the single release. Then, thinking about marketing, came the idea of making a video that could accompany the music for greater engagement and popularize the single more efficiently”, she adds, making it clear how focused she is on this new era.
With that focus, Cris couldn’t stop launching it a few days earlier. the lyric video of the song, and she says how important it was to make this release: “it’s important to have the lyric video, mainly because it’s a new song, and it ends up helping people to better know the lyrics of the single, being able to follow the track while they listen and sing, being more involved with the song, and it is also an excellent marketing tool”, she concludes.
Cris Pepper says how happy she is with the results she has had since the single’s release, and thanks:
“I want to thank all the fans who shared, who spoke about the song, who sang, who sent feedback with very positive messages to me, to PENELOPE, to everyone involved, messages of affection saying they liked the result of the song very much, the lyric video…”, and continues talking about the music video, “I’m sure the acceptance of the music video will also be excellent, it’s in very high quality, the script was very good, the director is excellent, he’s experienced, so I’m very happy about it all. You can expect that I will have new projects, I will have new original songs in 2022, new partnerships and wait for all coming next.”
The next performance at a club in Australia is already set. It will be at the Déjàvu party, on January 1st, bringing a big production, and the DJ will release a special set for this gig later this year, and she says “the set will be released later this year for the upcoming 2022 warm-up right there and to celebrate the life we have. I think everything we’ve been through this year needs to be celebrated and I need to deliver this gift to my fans. Very soon!”
